There's 5 MAIN Phases of Film Production

  • Distribution - Getting the film out there....

Sequence on Set -
  • Block it - Director articulates the reality of the scene and they go through the physical movment of the actorsand the camera.

  • Light it - Using practical and studio lights - light the set.

  • Rehearse it - Get the timing and pace right for the actors and the camera. Continually make adjustments.

  • Shoot it.

Going for a take Calls -
  • 1st AD "Going for a take, positions please and quite on set"

When everyone's ready :

  • 1st AD "Roll Camera" (usually would do sound first but we are recording sound in camera)

  • Camera Operator "Camera Speed"

  • 1st AD or Director "Action"

Only the director can call "Cut" unless the camera stops for some reason.

The 1st AD will then check if everyone was happy or do we need to go again.
